Winter Home Staging

To many people, moving in the winter months might make them shudder. However, this doesn’t have to slow you down. You can stage your home in such a way that the warmth and the atmosphere inside of your home outshines the winter season outside. We’ll talk about some important home staging tips that will help you get a hot offer on your property this winter season.

  • Make Your Home Comfortable. Since it is cold outside, you want to warm the inside of your home. Small touches like adding a warm throw blanket to the back of your couch or a chair or thick throw rugs on the floor will go a long way. If you have a fireplace, light it right before your open house to help set the stage, and set your thermostat to a comfortable temperature so your buyers linger and look around.
  • Utilize Natural Light. Winter has shorter daylight hours but you want to take advantage of any natural light that you can. If it’s possible, schedule your showings during the day and open your curtains to let the natural light spill inside. It may also help to have your windows clean to better showcase the natural light that is let in.
  • Turn Your Lights On. Winter can be a cold, dark, and dreary time of year. You want to brighten your home as much as possible. You can do this by turning your lights on. Make sure you replace all of your broken lights and add extra lighting to dark corners or hallways. Finally, make layers with your lighting using ceiling lights, floor lamps, and table lamps.
  • Make Sure Everyone Is Safe. Clear your driveways, steps, and walkways prior to showings. If you have ice built up, put salt out and make sure to let buyers know so they don’t have an accident and hurt themselves. It’ll put your buyers off if you give the impression that your home is difficult to maintain.
  • Accessorize with Warm Colours. If you use warm reds, yellows, and oranges to accessorize in your rooms, it’ll give the impression that the room is cozy and comfortable. You can add a few throw pillows, blankets, or area rugs to help brighten your home with colour.

Selling your home in the winter months doesn’t have to be a chore. These simple tips can help you highlight all of your home’s good features, no matter what season it is. Contact me, and we’ll be glad to help you through this process today!
