Staging a Home in the Winter Months

Many of those who are selling their homes are going to find that staging is something to seriously consider. What is staging? Staging a home basically means that you are making this home be seen in the best light possible. You are making this home look more attractive to those who are stopping in to see this and possibly buy it. However, staging your home in the winter months may mean putting a bit more time and thought into this. Here are a few ideas for staging during those winter months that may pay off.

Make the Front Door Welcoming

During the winter time it can be tempting to just let the wreath on the door go as the wind may knock it off or the like. However, you want to make the front door a welcoming place for everyone who walks up. This means putting a wreath on the front door, and even having a welcome mat so that visitors can wipe their shoes that may be wet from the snow.

Have Candles Out

While you don’t have to burn these candles as you don’t want too many scents in the home, having candles setting out in decorative ways can make a home look more lived in. This can give those who are potential buyers the feeling of home when they come into the house!

Take a Few of these Décor Trends to Heart

There are several décor trends out there that you can put into your home without having to put a lot of big item furniture into your home. For example:

  • Fur is in! Have a few fur throws sitting on the back of chairs or even rugs on the floor.
  • Think neutral colors in the furniture, whether this means you have to swap out for some rental pieces or whatnot, the more neutral the better as it allows people to see the potential of the home.
  • Metallic finishes are a great modern piece to have around the home. Combine a metallic candle holder with a white candle around a white chair and fur throw to create a cozy little nook that people will love!

Let the Light Shine

Be sure that the windows are clean, and the curtains are pulled back to allow as much natural light into the home as you can! If you still are feeling as though the house is a bit dark, be sure to place lamps and overhead lights on so that people can see just how light this home is.

Have Pictures of the Home Sitting Around

One staging trend that professionals are using is to have pictures of the home during the spring and summer blown up and placed on easels in the home. This is meant to showcase the beauty of the home during the summer time. If you have a backyard that is gorgeous be sure to have a picture of this so that potential buyers see just what all they are getting!
